The core driver behind the latest AI industry market shifts is the sheer demand for data center capacity. Cerebras upsized its IPO pricing to $150-$160 per share, aiming to raise $4.8 billion at a $33 billion valuation. The company is famous for manufacturing chips the size of a dinner plate.
They recently secured a massive contract with OpenAI, who is paying over $20 billion for 750 megawatts of inference compute through 2028.
This hardware race highlights a technical divide in the industry between answer inference and agentic inference. Answer inference relies on extreme speed for human-facing latency, while agentic inference requires massive memory hierarchy for background tasks. Cerebras' WSE-3 chip handles 21 PB/s of bandwidth, making it ideal for the former.
To keep pace, NVIDIA previously acquired Groq, and Elon Musk's xAI leased its 220,000 GPU Colossus facility to Anthropic for nearly $5 billion annually.
Data center expansion continues globally. SoftBank's Masayoshi Son is reportedly negotiating a $100 billion data center project in France. Even more extreme, Cowboy Space successfully raised $275 million to begin constructing data centers in physical orbit, citing rocket payload capacity as the only remaining bottleneck.
Corporate Restructuring and Valuation
Major corporate movements reflect deep AI industry market shifts. Elon Musk formally announced that xAI will dissolve and integrate directly into SpaceX. The new division, branded SpaceXAI, will manage operations for both the social platform X and the Grok language model.

The team rectified this in their recent models by enforcing strict constitutional training alongside positive behavioral examples.
Meanwhile, the Artificial Analysis Coding Agent Index revealed that utilizing Opus 4.7 alongside the Cursor IDE currently tops the performance charts, narrowly beating out Codex variants.
Perceptions of Value and Optimization
The perceived value of these systems is quantifiably rising. A METR survey of 349 engineers reported that AI tools are now considered twice as valuable as they were a year ago. However, an over-reliance on generative text is causing cultural pushback.
